Number of Dice
For each 5 posts a person makes, one die is rolled.
- If they have people with them, all players' posts count towards this.
For every three tools a person has, the number of dice rolled per event are increased by 1, to a maximum of 3 per event. (There are seven tools, so +2 for this)
- Only one of each kind of tool counts. (Available tools: Mallet, Shovel, Flashlight, HardHat, Pick, Chisel, Tweezers and Brush Set)
- Tools from all players (not counting duplicates) count.
- Always round down. A full set of tools gives a bonus of one, making 4 rolls per event. (1, +2 from the every three tools bonus, +1 from having a full set.)
Chances of Success/Failure
Rolling a 1 or 2 causes a "bad event".
Rolling a 10 causes a "good event".
As long as a player is roleplaying well, they may also get good events on a roll of 9.
If any characters in the thread have the trait cursed, then bad events also happen on a roll of 3.
If any characters or pets in the thread have the trait rabbit's luck or super-luck, then bad events only happen on a roll of 1.
- Having both traits cancel each other out, returning the chance to 1 or 2.
For every rank in the skill 'mason' the character has, adds 1 to the chance of a good event, to a maximum of +3.
- Only one character may affect the dice in this way, whichever is highest level.
Good and Bad Events
For every good and bad event a player gets in the same set of rolls, they cancel each other out and neither happens.
Roll each randomly for each good event. They are listed below and numbered for your convenience.
- Prizes that have more than one color variation are rolled randomly for color.
If a player has "creature encounters" turned on and noted in their first post: For every good event, roll an additional 10 sided die. If it is a 1 exactly, the player receives a pet instead of an item or pocketpet.
- If the player receives a pet, you must roleplay that pet with them and determine whether or not they were successful in taming it.
- This chance is doubled (rolled on a 1 or 2) if the character has the skill 'gem caller'.
For every bad event rolled, roll randomly among the bad events.
- You do not have to use the default description of a bad event. Be creative!
Tiers
> Rewards in the mines are separated by Tiers. For each good event (5 posts), a Tier must be determined.
All percents applicable add up in order to determine chance of moving up a Tier.
Tier 1
All events start at Tier 1 by default.
Tier 2
If the pet is appropriate for the mines, every 10 levels the pet has increases the chance to get to tier 2 increases by 10%, to a maximum of 30% obtained in this way.
- Only one pet may affect the dice in this way, whichever is highest level.
- The pet MUST be roleplayed to gain this benefit. It cannot just be posted and not included.
- Mining appropriate pets are: Gem Wyrm, Gem Drake, Gem Dragon, Tunnel Worm, Gargoyles, Karzik, Weaver, Scuta, Lamadidron, Pteropty, Jibiji, Tzaru, Crystal Guardian, Lindig, Halfbreeds (Containing one or more of the above), Draconics (Canyon Mines only)
For every two pieces of mining equipment a character has, the chance to get to tier 2 increases by 10%, to a maximum of 30% obtained in this way.
- Again, all characters’ tools add to this bonus, though duplicates do not count.
Tier 3
If a character gets to Tier 2, they have a chance of getting to Tier 3.
For every 10 loyalty a mining applicable pet has, the chance to get to Tier 3 increases by 10% to a maximum of 30% gained in this way.
- Only one pet may affect this chance, whichever has highest loyalty.
For every two ranks a character has in the skill 'mason' (rounded up), the chance to get to Tier 3 increases by 10% to a maximum of 20% gained in this way.
Magical Crystals
For characters with the skill "Feel the Node", there is a 5% chance any reward is instead a magical crystal in their tier.
For characters who put which crystal they're looking for in particular in their first post, AND have Feel the Node, a d10 is rolled, on a 1 or 2 they get their chosen crystal, for any other number it is rolled randomly.
For Tier 1 prizes, Mind Crystals. For Tier 2, Elemental Crystals. For Tier 3, Divine Crystals.

1 - Broken Tool!
Oh no! The rocks shift and fall on one of your tools, breaking it! Looks like you'll have to get it fixed before using it again. At least it was the tool, and not you or your pet!
(broken tool image)
How are you supposed to mine with all of these rocks in the way?
(image of rock)
Eww, there's fungus growing down here!
(image of mushroom)
The cavern rumbles and shakes, throwing dirt and small rocks upon you and your pet. The rumbling becomes louder, and the shaking more intense. Bigger rocks start to fall, tumbling down and surrounding you with debris! Before you know it, you're completely trapped in. Looks like you're going to have to dig your way out.
(The next 5 posts yield no results.)
Squeak, squeak, squeak!
Bats, by the hundreds, maybe the thousands, flutter and flap all around you. The air is so thick with bats that it becomes hard to see or hear anything else. Their tiny fangs bite and nip at the exposed flesh of both you and your pet, taking any little bit of blood that they can. They rush by, staying in your presence for only moments, though it seems much longer.
(Your pet is down to half stamina, and must be healed before played with again.)
What... what is that smell? Is that gas? Oh no! The cavern you are in is full of slowly seeping natural gas. Not only do you risk explosions if you are not careful with sparks and open flames, but if you stick around for too long, you will surely pass out from lack of oxygen!
(The next 5 posts yield no results)
The light source keeping the darkness at bay starts to flicker and flutter. It sputters one last time before going out completely. Without any natural light seeping in, the entire place is completely and utterly dark. It's rather spooky in here in the dark. Your pet isn't very happy about it!
(Pets with less than 15 loyalty spook and run away! Pets that cannot see, are not affected by darkness, or that have been taught 'Accept Darkness' are not affected.)
Walking along, everything seems rather normal. That is, until the gravel beneath your feet starts to slip, sending you and your pet tumbling into a deep pit. The fall stings quite a bit, but that isn't the biggest problem you face. The pit is rather deep, making the trip back up difficult at best.
(The next 5 posts yield no results.)
While digging around, you pull an uninteresting looking rock loose. It doesn't seem like it at the time, but that rock was very important. It held back a stream of water. Now that you've let it loose, the stream becomes more and more powerful. The passageway begins flooding rapidly from the ever increasing stream of water pouring out of the wall.
(The next 5 posts yield no results.)
Your pet starts to wander a little far away, but it's still in sight. That is, until a huge creature moves between you, blocking off the corridor between the two of you. It seems to be a huge segmented worm with a body taller than you! It blocks off the entire passageway, cutting you off from your pet for quite some time.
(Your pet is lost on the other side! It cannot be roleplayed for the next 5 posts!)
Uff!
Well, your pet seems to be mighty stuck in that narrow corridor. No matter how hard it wiggles, it just can't seem to get itself free. How did it even get in that far to get stuck in the first place? It may not have been the best idea to bring such a big pet to a cramped place...
(Once unstuck, your pet refuses to return to the mines for at least 1 month.)
The corridor is getting narrower and narrower. It doesn't really bother you so much, but your pet isn't doing so well. They turn and bolt, running wildly in whatever direction they can. Some pets just aren't made for enclosed spaces...
(Pets with less than 15 loyalty spook and run away! Pets taught 'Accept Enclosed Spaces' are unaffected.)
